3 2 BOWMAN'S CROSSING (CB138) D Whyte SR 3-wide without cover when 6Ls behind in 9th or so at 800 M, took closer order on circle to be 5-wide and under a length down off home turn, a neck 2nd at 200 M, stayed on well.
4 9 DR MORE (BV164) M Rodd -- Dropped out 9Ls last on fence at 1000 M, 3-wide into home straight when still 5Ls last and 3-wide, ran on well to be nearest at the finish.
5 14 WINTROW (CC175) A Delpech -- On fence 4Ls off the speed in 6th at the 800 M, over 2Ls behind in midfield entering straight when steadied for a clear run, outpaced by principals but still ran on fairly well.
6 3 PERFECT PARTNER (CD163) P Payne -- Worse than midfield when 2-wide and 6Ls behind at 900 M, 2-wide and 4Ls behind at top of home straight, couldn't find clear running room until the 200 M, made some late headway. (Mucus in trachea.)
7 1 HIDDEN DRAGON (CB231) F Coetzee -- Disputed early lead but raced about 2Ls off pace out 2-wide in 2nd at 800 M, about a neck down in 2nd off home turn, failed to dash and shifted out at 100 M, weakened close home.
8 10 GRAND DELIGHT (CB355) S Dye B Had the run of the race about 2Ls off pace on fence in 3rd at 1000 M, still 2Ls down but in 6th or so off home turn, always outpaced.
9 6 BULL'S EYE (BV148) A Marcus -- 5Ls behind in midfield at the 800 M when 2-wide, only 3Ls down off home turn, stayed on at only the same pace.
10 7 PALETTE NATURAL (CB284) R Fradd -- On fence about 6Ls behind in 8th through to 700 M, 4Ls down off home turn in much the same spot, posed no threat.
11 4 SATURN (CD154) T Mundry -- Awkwardly away with head up, head up again at 800 M when about 8Ls back in 12th, still in rear bunch when over 4Ls down off home turn, no danger.
12 8 RED PEPPER (CA196) P H Lo -- In rear about 8Ls off the pace down the backstretch, 5-wide into home straight in rear bunch when over 4Ls down in rear, stayed on at the one pace down centre of track.
13 11 SPECIAL KING PRAWN (CD212) W M Lai -- Led at the 1200 M and over-raced when 2Ls clear at the 1000 M, held narrow advantage turning for home, headed 300 M out and dropped out tamely.
