2 5 SOCRATES (CD336) O Doleuze V1 Tardy start from wide draw and ridden along in the early stages to race in a prominent position on inner. Under pressure 400 M out and responded well but unable to match speed with winner inside final 150 M to settle for 2nd.
3 12 ENAMELLED (CD011) M Rodd V/TT- Broke well and soon raced in handy position on rail through to straight. Kept on well when asked 350 M out and was able to fend off late charge from 4th placegetter to hold onto 3rd.
4 7 KNIGHT TEMPLAR (CC021) G Schofield P Began well from wide draw and soon settled in a handy position around 2 wide through to straight. Had trouble seeing clear daylight in early to middle part of straight. Ran on well inside final 200 M to miss 3rd narrowly.
5 13 SUNDAY DELIGHT (CC225) C Williams -- Jumped fairly and soon raced in better than midfield around 2 wide. Switched out and made steady headway rounding the home turn. Under pressure 350 M out and ran on fairly but became one-pace in the closing stages.
6 6 GREAT SENSATION (CB143) D Holland -- Jumped well but was eased to the rear on rail through to straight. Responded quite well when asked 350 M out but was held up for some distance after the 200 M. Kept on fairly when running was obtained in final stages.
7 8 MAGNIFICENT (CB390) A Delpech B Broke with field and raced in midfield or better on rail through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but was unable to quicken and only kept on evenly to the line.
8 11 TREASURE FIELD (CA236) E Saint-Martin TT Jumped well and soon settled in midfield or better 3 wide no cover. From around the 1200 M mark slowly moved forward to be 1L off pace on straightening. Only kept on same pace to the line when asked 400 M out.
9 14 ALAKAZAM (CC061) P H Lo B/TT Jumped fairly from widest and niggled along to take lead on rail from around the 1400 M through to straight. Kept on fairly when asked 400 M out but was headed near the 200 M and steadily faded thereafter.
10 3 HAPPY CONTENDER (CC152) C K Tong P Began awkwardly and raced in worse than midfield on rail through to straight. Only able to run on evenly to the line when asked 350 M out.
11 4 TOP PRIZE (CC097) G Mosse -- Soon dropped to the tail around 3 wide with cover and hung out rounding home turn. Switched wide on straightening to obtain running but unable to show much impression in straight.
12 10 SNIPER (CD110) S Dye -- Jumped with field from wide draw and steadily eased to a rearward position closer to rail. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running but failed to make up any ground in straight.
13 1 JUST A MARTIAN (CD197) B Prebble -- Soon settled in a rearward position around 3 wide with cover. Switched to the widest on straightening to make its run but failed to quicken and further weakened inside final 150 M.
14 9 KINGSTON GLORY (CC310) W M Lai B Jumped fairly from wide draw and raced in midfield towards the outside with no cover. After the 1600 M commenced to over-race. Stayed in similar position to straight and steadily tailed out.
