2 12 ESPRIT D'OR (CD295) C Williams TT From the widest draw was soon settled in worse than midfield around 3 wide with cover. Went forward from the outside at home bend to be 2Ls off pace on straightening. Responded well when asked 350 M out but without threatening.
3 13 LAZY BUDDIES (CC208) G Schofield B Jumped well from wide draw and steadily settled in midfield or worse on rail. Switched out on straightening to find clear running but didn't see clear daylight in early part of straight. Made good impression inside final 200 M.
4 3 FORTUNE DANCER (BS081) O Doleuze B-/PC2 From a wide draw was soon settled in a rearward position but closer to rail. Pushed along at home bend and made headway from the outside. Ran on quite well when asked 350 M out but just lost out to 3rd placegetter in a tight finish.
5 2 SMART CHIEF (CC042) C Soumillon PC Broke fairly and steadily settled in midfield around 3 wide. Near the 800 M made little headway to be 2Ls off pace on straightening. Ran on fairly in straight but was no match for 1st pair and was overhauled by 3rd and 4th placegetters.
6 5 GOLDEN MAPLE (CB265) S Sanders V Jumped fairly and ridden along to race in a handy position around 3 wide. Near the 900 M was allowed to stride forward steadily to join leaders on straightening. Hit the front shortly after the 400 M but was headed near the 200 M.
7 14 NOBLE GLORY (CB145) H W Lai B-/P1/TT Unable to muster early speed to race at the back on inner. Switched wide and hard ridden along at home bend to keep in touch. Made up some ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
8 11 COTTON BALL (CD327) D Whyte -- Began well and pushed along to race outside the leader. Eased back to race in 3rd place down back straight. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running but only ran on evenly and further weakened inside final 200 M.
9 9 FLORAL DANCER (CA259) E Saint-Martin B Began well and hard ridden along in the early stages to be box-seated behind the leader through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 400 M out and kept on evenly to the line.
10 4 STEP FORWARD (CB166) G Mosse B-/SR-/PC1 Soon raced in midfield or better on rail, commenced to give ground rounding the home turn and failed to show any running in straight.
11 6 MADE IN HONGKONG (CD139) C K Tong B Broke well from wide draw and niggled along to race in a forward position 3 wide no cover. Near the 1100 M went forward to race outside the leader to straight. No extra when asked 350 M out and steadily faded inside final 250 M.
12 8 SYLLABUS (CD388) Y T Cheng B Ridden along to take up running on rail with no more than 1/2L advantage through to straight. Headed shortly after the 400 M and gave ground steadily thereafter.
13 10 WINWIN COMBO (CB277) W M Lai -- Soon raced in handy position 2 wide, commenced to give ground steadily rounding the home bend and tailed out in straight.
