5 ARMADA (CE246) D Whyte -- Fast to begin, pressed forward but taken hold of when unable to get close, raced in 6th spot 3 wide 3Ls away, not used up to turn, angled out and gathered them in at 200 M, drew away to score easily.
9 DISGUISE (CG004) G Schofield -- Away with them, worked hard early to come across from wide alley, slotted in 1 out 1 back 2Ls away, moved up to challenge 3 wide in straight, hit lead briefly at 250 M but found winner too good. Strong effort.
4 SING FAY FAY (CE074) K T Yeung B/TT Average to begin, showed little early speed to settle worse than midfield 3 wide 7Ls from pace, 3 wide without cover and 4 wide on turn, stuck to task well widest in straight to snatch 3rd (lost whip).
6 VIKING TOR (CE207) R Fradd -- Began fairly, drifted back to just off midfield 2 wide 6Ls away, made 3 wide run from 600 M, made run between runners on turn, kept on well in straight without looking likely to be closest at finish.
14 TREASURE RAIDERS (CE049) W M Lai CP Bounced out well, restrained to take up midfield spot 5Ls away, checked at 700 M, made run between horses in straight and made up good ground late without threatening winner. Even effort.
8 SPARKLING STAR (CD055) F Coetzee B Fair to begin, showed no early speed, settled 2nd last on rails 10Ls from front runners, followed paint into straight, came from well back to make up good ground late.
3 SECRET OF KINGS (CG102) E Saint-Martin -- Slow to begin, niggled along to be closer, settled worse than midfield on rails 7 to 8Ls away, angled 2 wide from 600 M and came with run between horses in straight, doing best work late.
10 DRAGON AND GOLD (CD244) C W Wong -- Fastest to begin, engaged in speed battle early, raced at leader's girth throughout at good pace, continued to apply pressure to turn, still in mix until 200 M but early effort told and weakened late.
12 I'M NO SQUARE (CG078) C K Tong -- Began with them, hard ridden to go forward early, took up spot 3 back on fence 3Ls away, enjoyed easy run and travelled well to turn, unable to offer much at business end and was one paced to line.
11 MASTER MARAUDER (CA184) O Doleuze -- Away well, outpaced early and drifted back to midfield, hard ridden to hold position 4 back on rails 6Ls from pace, checked in middle stages, followed rails in straight but only battled to line.
13 LIVERBIRD (CE055) S Dye B Average to break, allowed to relax and settle in rearward division 3 wide 7 to 8Ls away, checked in middle stages, made run 4 wide into straight, lacked turn of foot to be a factor.
7 FAIR WIN (CE027) D Dunn B Began awkwardly, taken in behind runners to settle at rear 2 wide 10Ls from frontrunners, not asked in mid section, made run 4 to 5 wide on turn, didn't close race off as normally would.
1 CALIFORNIA PRINCE (CD079) B Prebble TT Began reasonably, chased along to hold spot behind leader, raced 1L away with speed on, obtained split at 300 M but couldn't capitalise and gradually lost touch to be well beaten. (Mucopus.)
