9 DIAMOND ERA (CE040) A Starke SR/TT Began evenly, didn't show enough early and faded back to rear, raced on rails 7-8Ls off leaders, lobbed along at tail appreciating pace in front, well back on bend, eased widest in straight making many lengths to come over the top late.
4 EYE WITNESS (CG027) F Coetzee XB/TT Broke fairly, held spot 3-4Ls away on rails, had easy time and not asked in mid-section, eased 2-wide when shuffled back on bend, hanging in traffic for most of straight and held up until late, got clear and just failed. (Lame.)
7 DON RICARDO (CE262) D Nikolic -- Jumped well, pressed on from wide alley to assume role at leaders girth, took 1 out 1 back trail when pace quickened at mid-point, switched to rails turning in, closed off nicely to hit lead late and narrowly miss out. (Bumped late)
10 SOLAR (CC198) C K Tong B Average to begin, drifted back from widest alley, raced 2-wide 7Ls off leaders, had easy time in mid-section, made 3-wide run on bend, well back turning in, closed hard last 200 M just missing a place. (Crowded late.)
1 SUNBELL (CB391) D Whyte -- Well enough to begin, took up more forward spot 4Ls back in 2-wide position, had easy time thereafter, stoked up on bend, cut back to inside turning in, made steady ground along rails to be closest on line.
8 WELL NOTED (CG313) G Mosse -- Out with rest, showed more speed than usual to cross and take up running, kept them going at reasonable pace when pressed throughout, held slim lead turning in, kept giving in straight and right there before overhauled at 50 M.
2 NOBLE CONQUEROR (CG169) O Doleuze -- Standard beginning as usual, angled down to rails to be 5Ls away in midfield, had quiet time in mid-section, held up on bend behind tiring horses, came to inside and in traffic for most of straight, checked late and never saw daylight.
3 FIGHTING MASCOT (CB426) M Nunes -- Average break, lacked early toe and eased back into running line, raced 5Ls back in 2-wide spot suited by speed, came with 3-wide run on bend, steadily closed but found trouble at 200 M and again late. Could have been closer.
5 ROMANTIC WINNER (CE112) B Prebble -- Began nicely, assumed forward position and took trail behind speed, raced 2-wide 1 out 1 back 2-3Ls back in mid-section, had run of race and travelled nicely on bend, threatened to 150 M but condition gave out late.
12 TRIUMPH (CC214) C W Wong V Started with them, didn't show enough dash to hold forward position early, posted 3-wide without cover and worked hard around field to be outside leader at mid-point, kept challenging to bend, ran out of gas and weakened from 200 M.
6 FORTUNE WARRIOR (CD096) Y T Cheng B Restrained from a wide alley and taken in behind runners, settled back in rearward division on rails 7Ls away, not set a task in mid-section, under pressure on bend, closed off only fairly from tail under hands and heels riding.
