2 7 FIFTY FIFTY (CD131) G Mosse -- Began with rest, soon drifted back to settle amongst rearward division, raced 2 wide 8Ls off pace suited by fast tempo, track 4 and 5 wide into straight, closed hard making up many lengths but unable to chase down winner.
3 4 GREAT GUY (CH112) K L Chui TT1 Fastest into stride, pressed on to challenge for lead, raced outside leader challenging throughout, always working to bend, held narrow advantage turning in, lead to 200 M but condition gave out late. Big effort first up.
4 9 JIANG JUN (CE281) Y T Cheng -- Average to begin, taken back from a wide alley, drove into nice spot 3 to 4Ls away in running line, had easy time in mid-section, didn't have much racing room but kept finding in straight closing nicely to make frame.
5 14 ULTRA FANTASY (CG311) M Nunes -- Jumped with rest, pressed on but unable to take closer order, raced 3 to 4 wide 3Ls back in front of midfield, improved 2Ls back turning in, still right in mix at 200 M and stuck on well despite hard run.
6 6 RICE FIELD (CE134) H W Lai TT Crowded slightly on jumping, soon regathered to hold midfield position 4 to 5Ls back racing 2 wide, tracked nicely 3 wide to bend, eased out in straight, steadily made ground to threaten at 250 M but run ended late.
7 3 YELLOW DIAMOND (CD246) D Whyte V Standard to begin, drifted back to be in last 3 racing 2 wide 8Ls away, not set a task in mid-section, bumped when coming to middle in straight, didn't finish off as normally would grinding to line. (Mucopus.)
8 10 ROYAL PERICLES (CH050) A Starke -- Showed early speed to challenge for lead, raced 3 wide without cover 1L from leaders, had tough run working throughout with strong speed, still there on bend, stuck to task to be there at 200 M, overhauled late when run ended.
9 5 GOLD STRIKER (CD365) F Coetzee -- Jumped with line, faded into midfield, unable to slot in and posted 3 wide (with cover) for journey, raced further back than expected 5Ls off pace, 4 and 5 wide into straight, closed steadily down middle without looking likely.
10 8 SIROCCO (CA169) K T Yeung -- Began nicely, drove through to hold leaders back, enjoyed nice trail but had to contend with fast pace, still travelling on bend, run opened turning in but couldn't take advantage and only held ground to line.
11 2 EXPECTATIONS (CD078) O Doleuze SR Fair to leave gates, soon worse than midfield, drove through to be 5Ls back on rails, had easy time to bend, in plenty of traffic in early part of straight but effort was one paced once clear.
12 11 JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE (CD274) M W Leung -- Fast to begin, pressed on to hold lead, pressured throughout and kept a solid pace on, continually pressured to bend, under hard riding to make another effort turning in, early burn told and run ended at 250 M.
13 12 GO JOHNNY GO (CG290) A Delpech -- Slow into stride, urged along to hold midfield position on rails, raced 3 to 4Ls off lead, had comfortable run with speed on, kept to fence but never saw daylight in straight and was not properly tested in finish.
14 1 NOBLE CRUSADER (CD286) S Dye TT Even break, settled just off them 3 wide with cover, not comfortable and unbalanced. 3Ls back at midpoint, pushed 4 and 5 wide on circle, didn't respond turning in and lost further ground to be well beaten.
