2 4 KINGSTON WINNER (CC024) W M Lai B Jumped well, led early before settling behind the leader 1300 M. Switched out and overtook early leader on straightening and opened up a clear lead 200 M. Stayed on well but failed to hold off a late charging rival.
3 2 ALL OUR WAY (CE217) O Doleuze -- 3-wide behind midfield. Pressured to improve in a wide position making home turn. Continued to make up ground in the straight but unable to find extra to challenge closing stages.
4 5 BUDDIES SPIRIT (CD042) D Nikolic -- Travelled on fence at midfield. 2Ls off the pace making home turn. Kept on fairly in the straight but was unable to gain much ground over closing stages.
5 8 ALWAYS HAPPY (CE085) C W Wong B/TT Raced 2-wide and a length off the pace until home straight. Unable to turn up a notch after straightening and faded out of contention final 200 M.
6 7 SUDDEN SPLENDOR (CE251) F Coetzee B/TT Raced along the rails behind midfield. Kept on without threatening in the straight.
7 11 COME HO CHOI (CE082) Y T Cheng B Slowly away and raced along the rails in a rearward position. Near last to enter home straight. Closed strongly before running into traffic over the final 200 M and was unable to be ridden out.
8 9 KING OF SHAVER (CH041) C Soumillon -- Raced 3-wide without cover at midfield. Made up ground in 3-wide spot rounding home turn but was unable to sustain the run in the home straight after working hard throughout.
9 12 WINWIN COMBO (CB277) M Nunes -- Dropped back from widest draw. Trailed field into home straight and made up some late ground by running past tired runners.
10 1 HAPPY GO LAGO (CE310) B Prebble TT Travelled nicely in a 2-wide midfield position. Quickened and commenced to rally on straightening. Gaining ground until rider stopped pushing after 200 M due to problem. (See Racing Incidents.)
11 6 CHINOOK (CC108) G Mosse B Settled 2-wide better than midfield. Lacked a response when asked turning for home and faded in the straight.
12 10 TABBRIS (CB088) C K Tong B/TT Ridden along and took the lead 1300 M. Ahead by a length turning in but gradually dropped out thereafter.
