8 TOWERING FEELING (CG262) D Whyte -- Standard break, Whyte took initiative and went to lead, held them out and set a moderate tempo, dictated terms to bend 1/2L back holding inside, booted 2Ls clear on turning, dug deep late to hold on by a slender margin.
6 RIVER JORDAN (CG194) D Beadman TT Began nicely, positioned closer than usual 2 to 3Ls back in 2 wide line, eased 3 wide on circle with slow tempo, had nice trail off turn, came with a big sprint from 250 M making up plenty of ground to just fail.
2 ORIENTAL MAGIC (CE133) F Coetzee -- Moderate getaway, settled in last few 2 wide 6Ls off pace, not helped by tempo back in 12th on bend, still behind back of horses turning, steadied at 200 M and weaved between them closing best out of pack to grab 3rd late.
9 JIANG JUN (CE281) Y T Cheng XB Out better than previously, rolled forward with slow pace to race up outside leaders, forced to work 3 wide without cover but helped by pace, shared lead turning and kept with them when sprint went on, stuck in well to make frame.
7 BULLISH CASH (CH049) G Mosse TT Began with rest, kept to rails holding position behind early leader, had nice trip 2Ls back, spent nothing to bend with little speed on, followed winner turning, kept on well without threatening to just miss frame.
13 FULL OF JOY (CG293) C Williams BO1 Average getaway, rushed along to take up a role in midfield, raced 3 wide with cover 3 to 4Ls back, overraced with slow speed on, close enough turning in, kept finding and stuck on gamely in 3 way go for 4th.
1 HAWKES BAY (CG064) B Prebble V-/XB Reasonable getaway, rolled on but trapped 3 wide from an awkward draw, 2Ls back with cover on circle and helped by average pace, dropped in on bend, couldn't dash again in straight and just kept on evenly last 200 M.
4 LOTZATOW (CD397) O Doleuze B Tardy to begin, regathered to sit midfield on rails, had nice trip 4 to 5Ls back, tracked well on bend saving ground on fence, kept to inside in straight but only managed to hold ground in run to line.
5 ALPHA MAIL (CG286) C Soumillon H- Only fair to begin, restrained to settle next to last, 6 to 7Ls back 3 wide and unsuited by tempo, made a run 4 to 5 wide on circle, came to extreme outside and closed fairly in straight but set too great a task.
12 EQUATOR KID (CC134) S K Sit -- Away with first few, went on with it but took a sit when couldn't progress, had 1 x 1 sit appreciating speed, lost position on bend, didn't find much when asked last 300 M and looked outclassed doing very little late.
10 FIVE GRAINS (CB280) A Delpech -- No speed as usual, dropped out to rear, raced 8Ls back on rails, not helped by tempo, switched out turning in, still behind them at 200 M, found a gap and closed evenly past some tired runners.
3 IMPERIAL APPLAUSE (CG209) D Nikolic -- Even getaway, positioned behind midfield, raced 3 wide with cover 5 to 6Ls back, not suited by speed, eased 4 wide on bend, lacked usual finish and run ended at 200 M just battling thereafter.
14 STAY YOUNG (CD109) W M Lai -- Little pace from outset, took a spot 2 wide behind midfield, raced 5 to 6Ls off leaders not helped by gallop, cut back to rails on turning and made some ground but couldn't find any extra from 200 M. Plugged late.
11 RICE FIELD (CE134) H W Lai TT Bounced out, showed unexpected dash to be up challenging, raced in front 1/2L clear but couldn't cross, advantaged by slow pace to bend there to 250 M but faded thereafter weakened right out. (See Racing Incidents.)
