3 2 MAVERICK STAR (CE279) Y T Cheng -- Fair to leave gates, took a midfield role 4Ls back on rails, not asked in mid-section, overraced on bend, in traffic to 300 M, progressed nicely when clear but couldn't match first two.
4 3 CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN (CG310) B Prebble TT Showed good natural pace to go forward and take front from outside alley, kept pace genuine 1L clear, still held advantage leaving turn, defied them to 200 M but condition gave out late.
5 13 THISTLE KING (CE231) A Delpech -- Well enough away, unable to get to rail and forced to do it tough 4Ls back 3 wide without cover, still working creeping closer on bend, didn't dash but stuck to task well, will improve.
6 1 SUPREME GAINS (CG057) G Boss B-/SR2 Average jump, ridden along to hold spot in rearward bunch, raced 8Ls back on rails appreciating even tempo, kept to rails to 400 M before hitting clear at 300 M, did best work late. Nice return.
7 10 CALIFORNIA BISHOP (CD351) K T Yeung TT Fastest out, led them easily before handing up to stablemate, raced outside leader from 700 M, challenged on turning, there to 200 M before early work took toll and weakened out.
8 11 FIVE GRAINS (CB280) M Nunes -- Moderate break, took a spot behind midfield 6Ls back on rails, struggled early but suited by pace in middle stages, 2 wide leaving circle, progressed steadily last 300 M making some ground without looking likely.
9 9 WIN AGAIN (CD371) Z Purton B/SR Away well, had speed to race in forward division 3Ls back on fence, had dream trip with tempo to suit, 2Ls down at 400 M, failed to match them from 300 M and struggled late.
10 12 DASH AHEAD (CD199) H W Lai SR Jumped with rest, lacked early dash and settled towards tail 7 to 8Ls back in running line, helped by tempo but niggled along at 600 M, gave a big start but did warm up late. Better for run.
11 7 HORACE'S CHOICE (CH169) S Dye -- Taken back from an awkward draw, raced 7Ls back 3 wide with cover, helped by pace, swung 4 wide turning but still gave a big start, made some headway down centre however lacked usual finish.
12 4 FEARLESS (CH301) D Whyte -- Began with line, couldn't slot in and drifted back to race in midfield, 3 wide with cover 6Ls away throughout, urged along on turning, flat out in straight and ran out of gas last 200 M. Better for run.
13 5 GOOD PROFIT (CD389) G Mosse B- Ordinary getaway, raced at tail 9 to 10Ls back on fence, not asked in mid-section, still well back on bend, stuck to rails in straight but unable to make much progress.
14 8 SUPER TRAVELLER (CH275) O Doleuze XB1/TT- Slowly away, bucked early and lost further ground, caught up to race 10Ls back in 2 wide line, back with last few, weakened out in straight.
