2 3 KINGS FALCON (CJ185) D Beadman H Reasonable jump, took a midfield position, had a nice trip 5Ls off pace in 2 wide line, travelled well on bend, loomed up with plenty to offer at 350 M, hands and heels to 200 M, couldn't match dash of winner late.
3 14 INTERCHINA STAR (CJ226) H W Lai CP- Away nicely, held a forward spot before racing behind pace 4Ls back on rails, had a soft run in mid-section, kept coming along inside final 300 M finishing nicely to hold 3rd.
4 8 GEM OF CHIU TON (CJ188) E Saint-Martin TT Away in line, ended up drifting back to race nearer to tail 9Ls off speed, had a fair trip but well back turning, made remarkable progress from an impossible spot.
5 7 OPERATION SECRET (CH081) Y T Cheng -- Jumped with rest, positioned 2 wide behind midfield 8Ls or so away, raced in 3 wide line on bend, made even progress from well back to be nearest on line.
6 11 BEST FRIEND (CH240) F Coetzee B Moderate getaway, ended up best part of 10Ls away racing 3 wide with cover, helped by reasonable speed, still well back and pushed wide turning, made plenty of good progress in stretch.
7 10 VIGOR DELIGHT (CK070) O Doleuze -- Taken back from a wide gate, ended up more than 10Ls back at tail, not used throughout, well back and in impossible spot turning, made useful progress final 300 M to be closest late. (See Racing Incidents.)
8 5 FEARLESS (CH301) D Whyte B Standard getaway, settled 5Ls back on fence, used little on inside, improved spot on bend, held up soon after straightening and lost run, made only minor progress when clear final 200 M.
9 4 CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN (CG310) S K Sit TT Moderate jump, unable to muster, posted 3 wide 6Ls back without cover, worked hard with solid speed on, struggling turning, battled at same pace in straight. (See racing incidents regarding tactics.)
10 2 GOLD STRIKER (CD365) G Mosse -- Fast into stride as usual, worked across and took ideal spot 1 out 1 back, forced to track a strong pace throughout, close enough turning, angled out but run was short-lived, battled final 300 M.
11 1 NEVER LOOK BACK (CJ043) Z Purton TT1 No real pace from outset, raced 7 to 8Ls back on fence, aided by a decent speed on, raced keenly and checked 700 M, same margin down turning, made no serious progress in straight.
12 13 BLESSING (CJ337) C K Tong -- Jumped with purpose, went on and took a trail behind leader, had even run but forced to follow a solid speed, urged along to hold spot leaving bend, showed nothing in straight and weakened last 300 M.
13 6 LU YUE (CH278) C W Wong B/H Began evenly, pressed forward to race outside the leader, shaded inside horse throughout applying constant pressure, still in duel rounding bend, didn't respond and flattened at 300 M.
14 9 GRAND STORE (CH087) K C Leung -- Fastest into stride, soon took up running, set a solid speed when challenged in front, shaded throughout by inside horse, under pressure soon after turning, faded easily at 300 M, didn't see out trip.
