1 HAWKES BAY (CG064) B Prebble XB Broke well but was restrained back to mid-division 4Ls away from leaders, tracked the eventual runner up approaching home straight, showed a nice turn of foot to forge to the front 150 M out and found enough to hold on.
5 SPECIAL DAYS (CH236) D Whyte -- Towards the rear early, made a forward move passing 700 M round the outside of field, hit the front early in straight, ran on well but was picked off 150 M from home.
3 JACKPOT DELIGHT (CJ101) W C Marwing B- Behind midfield in 9th, acted OK on this deteriorating ground and came with a late run inside 400 M to get within a length of the winner.
10 FEARLESS (CH301) J Lloyd B Began awkwardly and lost ground, raced in the rear 10Ls away, carried wide and covered more ground than others, picked up well in straight and was closing on the first three with every stride. Narrowly beaten.
8 WILLING STORM (CJ187) D Beadman H In mid-division early but moved closer passing 1000 M to be 2Ls down on turning, held every chance but remained one-paced in the run to the line.
7 NOBLE CONQUEROR (CG169) J Winks P Patiently ridden in 2nd last, 10Ls behind in early stages but gradually crept closer after midway, carried wide on turning, made some headway from off the pace but was never in the hunt.
11 GOLD STRIKER (CD365) K T Yeung -- Settled just off the early pace but never really got going on this ground. No impression.
2 JOY AND FUN (CH014) M Du Plessis CP Tracked leaders prominently, went for the inside route and saved ground on turning, couldn't pick up on the soft ground and had no extra left inside 200 M.
13 NEVER LOOK BACK (CJ043) K C Leung -- Slow into stride, raced behind midfield 5 to 6Ls off the pace, couldn't quite get into it on this soft going, never threatened and was eased close home.
4 BULLISH CASH (CH049) W M Lai TT Ridden along to hold a position near the rear, shifted wider on turning and had plenty to do inside 400 M, never picked up in this testing condition, eased down passing 200 M.
12 SKYVIEW BAR (CG024) Y T Cheng -- Cut out the early running and set a decent pace up front on the rain affected track, was taken on from 900 M and weakened rapidly coming off the bend.
6 FULL OF JOY (CG293) Z Purton -- Ahead of mid-division 3Ls back, under serious pressure turning in, couldn't pick up on this soft ground and dropped out tamely inside 300 M.
9 CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN (CG310) C K Tong TT Gradually moved to the front alongside leader, went a decent gallop in the deteriorating ground, struggled early on straightening, tailed out. (Bled.)
