Racing Incident Report

MANLEY'S FORTUNE jumped very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MULTI-WINNER onto REFRESHINGLY which in turn shifted ground and made contact with SUPER FAIRWAY. As a consequence of the general crowding that occurred, MULTI-WINNER was severely checked. In view of all the circumstances, no action was taken. GOLD FLASK, which was not standing well, did not leave the gates cleanly. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, MANLEY'S FORTUNE hung out. In the latter part of the turn and in the Straight, SPARKO hung in. In the run to the winning post, SUPER CONNECTIONS shifted in, causing some inconvenience to SOUNDS GOOD. When asked about the disappointing performance of CHEETAH, S King said he had been riding the horse in some of its recent work and whilst the work had not been strong, it was in his opinion quite satisfactory. He said CHEETAH left the gates well, took up a forward position and although the pace was not as strong as he had hoped, CHEETAH travelled well in the run, but then in the Straight when put under pressure did not respond and generally was very disappointing. Before being allowed to race again, CHEETAH will be subject to an official veterinary examination. S Dye (YUE YEE MASTER) explained in the pre-race parade, the horse was not stretching out as he thought it should, accordingly he gave it a strong preliminary and then kept the horse on the move before it was boxed. He said the horse did appear to free up before being loaded and as a result he did not seek a veterinary examination. He said however on leaving the gates he immediately became concerned with the action of YUE YEE MASTER and at no time did the horse stretch out as he thought it should. Before YUE YEE MASTER can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subject to an official veterinary examination. CHEETAH was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
