Racing Incident Report

On the way to the Start, TATTEHHALL kicked out and made contact with a rail. On arrival at the gates, TATTENHALL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who decided the horse was suitable to race. When the gates opened, EXPRESS LOT bounded in the air. RECOGNITION jumped badly and bumped the outside of its gate. Because of this, E Legrix was momentarily unbalanced. On jumping, STRATEGIC MOVE shifted out and made contact with TATTENHALL. In the early stages, EXPRESS LOT proved somewhat difficult to settle and about the 1600 Metres was awkward just inside the hindquarters of SING SING SING. Turning out of the Straight the first time, WONDERFUL LIFE was steadied when momentarily tight between SING SING SING and DRAGON FORTUNE. At about the 1600 Metres, WONDERFUL LIFE was checked and became unbalanced when tightened by TATTENHALL (H K Yim) which shifted from a position three wide to be racing two wide behind STRATEGIC MOVE into a position which had been established by WONDERFUL LIFE. H K Yim was told the Stewards acknowledged today was his second day back race riding and such disregard for his fellow riders will not be condoned again. On this occasion, a severe reprimand was recorded against him. After being crowded at about the 1600 Metres, WONDERFUL LIFE was obliged to race three wide to the outside of TATTENHALL and without any cover. In the early and middle stages, YAN CHAI ELITE hung in. When asked about the disappointing performance of AQUA PRINCE, R Fradd said he settled the horse towards the rear in accordance with the instructions given to him by the Trainer and AQUA PRINCE enjoyed a nice run in the race. He said AQUA PRINCE normally has a short run home, but does finish its races off strongly, but today however when put under pressure after straightening AQUA PRINCE did not respond and in the Straight as he was concerned with the action of the horse, he did not ride it out as he normally would. He did point out that he noted on the off side hindquarter of AQUA PRINCE a type of skin rash which may have concerned the horse. The Veterinary Surgeon said when he examined AQUA PRINCE after the race the horse did have a very mild type of hives on its off side rump, but in his opinion this was of no clinical significance whatsoever. The performance of AQUA PRINCE was considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before AQUA PRINCE can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WONDERFUL LIFE and AQUA PRINCE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
