Racing Incident Report

Subsequent to declarations for the meeting the Stewards were concerned with the work patterns of JADE DYNASTY, a declared runner for this race. It was noted the only significant work done by JADE DYNASTY was to run in a 1050 Metre dirt trial on 15 May 2001. After that the horse passed an official veterinary examination. The Stewards requested that JADE DYNASTY be examined again on the morning of Friday, 25 May 2001. At this time the Veterinary Surgeon said JADE DYNASTY was lame in its near side front leg as a result of a reoccurring problem with its flexor tendon. Accordingly JADE DYNASTY was withdrawn and replaced by Standby Declared Starter GRANDSTAND (H K Yim). Before being allowed to race again, JADE DYNASTY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, FORTUNE REACHING was restless and momentarily reared. The horse was then obliged to race wide throughout and without any cover and commenced to give ground about the 600 Metres. As the gates opened, FLYING MAGIC bounded in the air, came out awkwardly and as a consequence lost a lot of ground. Near the 600 Metres, SURELY was momentarily unbalanced on the heels of PROJECTVISION. Near the 400 Metres, WATCH ME WIN was steadied when awkward just inside the heels of SOUNDS GOOD which was giving ground. When questioned, Apprentice C H Tse (LION'S SHARE) said he had ridden the horse in some of its work in the lead up to today's race. He said this work was just acceptable. He said the intention from an outside gate was to try and lead on LION'S SHARE, but the horse missed the start as it had done previously. He also said there had been occasions in the past when LION'S SHARE did not jump well, it had performed poorly and he thought this was the situation today. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said LION'S SHARE was lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LION'S SHARE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMIABLE and LION'S SHARE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
