Racing Incident Report
KINGSTON TREASURE was allowed to leave the Parade Ring early and riderless as it was proving difficult to manage. After leaving the Parade Ring and before entering the track, KINGSTON TREASURE broke away but only galloped a short distance before being caught. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion at that time was suitable to race. On the way to the Start, KINGSTON TREASURE, which was being led down by an outrider, dislodged D Whtye. The horse did not get loose, was remounted and proceeded to the Start. Before being boxed, the horse was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared suitable to race. After being boxed, KINGSTON TREASURE became fractious and broke through the gates. The horse was caught reasonably quickly by an outrider, returned to the Start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was unfit to run. Accordingly KINGSTON TREASURE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that KINGSTON TREASURE had sustained abrasions to its off hock. Subsequent to the race, the Stewards interviewed Mr T K Ng, trainer of KINGSTON TREASURE, regarding the behaviour of the horse. At the conclusion of the interview, the Stewards decided that they would invoke the powers they have under Stewards Instruction 1(1)(v) which allows them to compulsorily retire any horse which in their opinion is unruly and they consider unsafe to continue to race. Mr Ng was advised of the Stewards' decision and told in the circumstances of this case there are rights of appeal in place should he or the owners wish to follow that path. After being boxed, MASTER FAY became fractious and reared. The horse was released from the gates and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it was suitable to race. ALL THRILLS TOO was slow to begin. TAJASUR left the gates awkwardly. Over about the last 200 Metres, HELENE ELEGANCE when giving ground was inclined to race ungenerously. In the run to the winning post, OUR CLASS shifted out. WINNING COUNTER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
