Racing Incident Report
The explanations submitted by O Doleuze, the declared rider of INDUSTRIAL PRIDE, regarding his not being able to make the horse's weight were accepted. Permission was granted for W Woods to be substituted. When the gates opened, STARWAY PATROL bounded in the air and bumped the outside of its stall. As a consequence of this, A Marcus lost the use of his near side iron and was able to regain it 100 Meters after the start. Before being allowed to race again, STARWAY PATROL will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. About the 1200 Metres, CLEMENT SUPREME (Y T Cheng) shifted in abruptly in an endeavour to find a position behind GRAND DELIGHT. CLEMENT SUPREME shifted considerably more ground than it needed to. As a consequence of this, PEAK POWER was inconvenienced and shifted in abruptly towards THE KING OF CLOYNE. Just after this, GRAND DELIGHT was shifted out to allow CLEMENT SUPREME racing room behind it. Y T Cheng was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. Near the 400 Metres, CLEMENT SUPREME raced up close to the heels of BOWMAN'S CROSSING, as a consequence of this was shifted out abruptly to avoid that runner and try and find running. Near the 300 Metres, THE KING OF CLOYNE was changed course to avoid VICTORY MARBLE which was giving ground. In the Straight, VICTORY MARBLE, which was giving ground, hung in. In the run to the winning post, STRONG SCOTCH shifted out and brushed BOWMAN'S CROSSING which in turn shifted ground and caused some inconvenience to CLEMENT SUPREME. When questioned, C Williams (VICTORY WARRIOR) explained he has not been riding the horse in any of its work and today he was instructed by the trainer from an inside gate to try and ride the horse somewhere about midfield or a little better. He said VICTORY WARRIOR worked very keenly to the gates, was one of the early runners boxed, then had to wait for some time and in the gates became reasonably upset. He said VICTORY WARRIOR came out a little awkwardly, he gave the horse a push to try and take up a position in the middle, but VICTORY WARRIOR raced much harder than he anticipated it would and went forward, and he was not able to settle it. He went on to say VICTORY WARRIOR was one of the first horses beaten and this was in his opinion as a consequence of the way it over-raced in the early and middle stages. GRAND DELIGHT and VICTORY WARRIOR were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, W C Marwing (VICTORY MARBLE) reported the horse gave ground quickly over the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon examined VICTORY MARBLE. He said the horse trotted out sound, no heart irregularity was detected and an endoscopic examination revealed no abnormalities. After the race, it was noted STARWAY PATROL was making abnormal breathing noises. An endoscopic examination revealed the horse had a slightly paralysed larynx and a moderate amount of blood in the trachea.
