Racing Incident Report

TOUCH OF CLASS jumped awkwardly and threw its head about, just after the start bumped the hindquarters of BEST FOR ALL. CYBER WISDOM left the gates very awkwardly with its head up, then in the Straight put its head up, raced ungenerously and hung in. BLAZING BOB was slowly away, then made the Home Turn awkwardly and lay out. In the early stages, TURF LUCK had a tendency to hang in. When questioned, O Doleuze (TOUCH OF CLASS) said from an outside gate and as the horse was running over 1400 Metres for the first time, he was instructed by the connections to allow the horse to drop out in the early stages, ride it more quietly than usual and ensure it closed the race off strongly. He said accordingly on jumping he immediately took hold of TOUCH OF CLASS, the horse did come out and threw its head about for some time, then in the early stages was inclined to over-race and pull. He said once settled however TOUCH OF CLASS travelled nicely, but in the early part of the Straight he had difficulty obtaining a clear run between BLAZING BOB and ENERGETIC PRINCE and after this changed course to obtain clear running and go forward, when in the clear TOUCH OF CLASS did close the race off strongly. Mr A T Millard, trainer of TOUCH OF CLASS, confirmed the instructions that were given and expressed satisfaction with the way the horse was ridden. He also went on to say a change of tactics was because of the outside draw and the horse running over 1400 Metres for the first time and the fact that at its last run when in front it did give ground in the run to the line. The explanations tendered by Mr Millard and O Doleuze were accepted. NEW FACE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
