Racing Incident Report

On jumping, ELECTRONIC UNICORN shifted out and brushed MAN OF HONOUR. S Dye (ELECTRONIC UNICORN) explained in his opinion the horse simply did not run out a strong 2000 Metres and even 600 Metres out he was concerned with the chances of success the horse might have. The Stewards questioned W M Lai (PEAK POWER) and S Dye (ELECTRONIC UNICORN) regarding an incident which took place from entering the Back Straight until about the 1000 Metres. It was established that W M Lai was instructed to ensure he rode PEAK POWER away from the running rail and for this reason turning into the Back Straight he shifted away from the fence and from a position which would have allowed him to follow INDUSTRIAL PIONEER. He then was racing one wide and following CHEERS HONG KONG and as a consequence of this ELECTRONIC UNICORN was obliged to race wide. After the 1200 Metres, W M Lai endeavoured to shift PEAK POWER out wider still, ELECTRONIC UNICORN was taken forward to a position outside CHEERS HONG KONG and whilst this was taking place, ELECTRONIC UNICORN and PEAK POWER came together several times. It was decided no action be taken. ELECTRONIC UNICORN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
