Racing Incident Report

ABLE MARSHALL, which was restless after being boxed, began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ROUND THE WORLD. LUCKY TWINS was immediately steadied on jumping from the outside barrier and shifted across behind runners closer to the rail. Shortly after the start, MAGICAL WARRIOR and EXPLOSIVE POWER were crowded for room inside REWARD which had its head on the side and shifted in. In the early stages, KING OF FISH hung in. Approaching the 1200 Metres, STRATEGIC SELECT was steadied to avoid the heels of ROUND THE WORLD (A Delpech) which shifted in when not fully clear. A Delpech was severely reprimanded and advised against a repetition. D Whyte (KING OF FISH) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the 600 Metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his horse from shifting in when not clear of REWARD, causing that horse to be crowded for room and checked. HEALTHY WEALTHY, which was following REWARD, was steadied and shifted out as a consequence. In the circumstances of this case, it was considered the appropriate penalty was for D Whyte's licence to ride in races be suspended until Thursday 4 December 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 22 November 2003. Rounding the Home Turn, MAGICAL LOT was steadied when crowded for room between ROUND THE WORLD and HEALTHY WEALTHY which was taken out by REWARD which in turn was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING OF FISH which hung out. In the early part of the Straight, LUCKY TWINS hung in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of ABLE MARSHALL. After passing the 200 Metres, CENTURY HORSE was steadied when crowded for room between MAGICAL LOT and MAGICAL WARRIOR which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, STRATEGIC SELECT was steadied when disappointed for running between KING OF FISH and HALO KING PRAWN which shifted out slightly. Over the concluding stages, HEALTHY WEALTHY shifted out under pressure. HEALTHY WEALTHY and HALO KING PRAWN were sent for sampling.
