Racing Incident Report

SILVERBIRD was slow to begin, then was ridden along to make up ground. PARADIS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped GOLD FIELD. LUCKY MARAUDING began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, then in the early and middle stages proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. On jumping, INSIDE MAIL knuckled. Near the 1300 Metres, FRUITY FRUITY was steadied to avoid the heels of INSIDE MAIL which when proving difficult to settle got its head up and shifted in away from LUCKY MARAUDING which itself was shifting in. No action was taken. Near the 1000 Metres, ROYAL ARMY was steadied away from the heels of EAST OCEAN DRAGON. From shortly after straightening until near the 100 Metres, ROYAL ARMY was unable to obtain clear running, then after obtaining clear running hung in and proved difficult to ride. Because of this, ROYAL ARMY was not properly tested. After the 200 Metres, HALO KING PRAWN was steadied when disappointed for running between SILVERBIRD and FRUITY FRUITY. In the Straight, WISE CHOICE hung in badly and proved difficult to ride. Prior to the winning post, FRENCH CONNECTION shifted out. Almost right on the winning post, GOOD HEART and INSIDE MAIL bumped as a result of both horses shifting ground. Throughout the race, GOLD FIELD raced wide and without cover and making the Home turn hung out. M Kinane (LUCKY MARAUDING) explained while behind the barriers before the race, the horse sweated up badly. He said when the gates opened, LUCKY MARAUDING immediately commenced to over-race, did far too much work within itself in the early and middle stages and consequently did not finish off. After the race, Mr K W Lui, the trainer of the horse, did indicate to him that he was surprised the horse sweated up in the manner in which it did prior to the race. LUCKY MARAUDING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, LUCKY MARAUDING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MARAUDING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. UPBEAT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of UPBEAT after the race did not show any significant findings. FRUITY FRUITY, GOOD HEART and INSIDE MAIL were sent for sampling.
