Racing Incident Report
KIWI DASH began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between FIRST KNIGHT and BELONG TO US which shifted in. CHAMPION BOY was slow to begin. MILLENNIUM SUPREME was a little slow to begin. ASIA STAR was slow to begin, then lost further ground when crowded for room between RENA'S WUNDERBAR and FIRST KNIGHT, both of which shifted ground. ARIGATO began awkwardly, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. For a considerable distance after the 1000 Metres, KIWI DASH proved difficult to settle, on a number of occasions got its head up and near the 900 Metres was checked away from the heels of SWAGGIE. Near the 700 Metres, KIWI DASH, which was continuing to prove difficult to settle, was steadied. At the same time, NAOMERIC TE SPECSO proved very difficult to settle, commenced to hang out, ran onto the heels of KIWI DASH, blundered, almost fell, shifted out and hampered CASH KING. The occurrence was considered to be accidental. At the 200 Metres, FIRST KNIGHT was bumped by DANEPRINT which shifted out. D Dunn (CASH KING) explained early in the Home Straight he had hoped CHAMPION BOY would quicken and he would follow that horse through. He said when this did not eventuate he shifted to the outside of CHAMPION BOY, CASH KING immediately got its head on the side and commenced to hang out. He said shortly after this BELONG TO US, which was giving ground, shifted in and as a result he again had to steady. He said after this CASH KING continued to hang out and he was somewhat disadvantaged in riding his mount out. NAOMERIC TE SPECSO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NAOMERIC TE SPECSO after the race did not show any significant findings. ARIGATO, TIMBER CITY and SPARKLE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SWAGGIE was making an abnormal breathing noise.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 8 November 2004)
NAOMERIC TE SPECSO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. NAOMERIC TE SPECSO was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Moore yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a swollen right fore cannon as a result of a wound to the medial tendon region. Before being allowed to race again, NAOMERIC TE SPECSO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
