Racing Incident Report

WIND WINNER, which had a small amount of blood present at its mouth, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start and passed suitable to race. DAY OR NIGHT began awkwardly, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of DEEP OCEAN. KING HESPERUS was slow to begin, then in the early stages appeared reluctant to stretch out. CYPRESS HILL began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LUCKY SIXER. Near the 1500 Metres, TOP HONOR, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ART TRADER which shifted out, causing CLASSIC DELIGHT to be carried wider. For a considerable distance after the 1200 Metres, LUCKY SIXER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MASTER GIGOLO, then near the 800 Metres steadied away from the heels of that horse. After the 800 Metres, when being steadied away from the heels of MEATH, DAY OR NIGHT shifted out abruptly. This caused some inconvenience to TOP HONOR and FIVE DYNASTIES. After the 600 Metres, DAY OR NIGHT was steadied away from the heels of MEATH. For some distance after straightening, LUCKY SIXER was held up and unable to improve between MASTER GIGOLO and DEEP OCEAN. Near the 200 Metres, LUCKY SIXER shifted towards the inside of MASTER GIGOLO and again had some difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 400 Metres, TOP HONOR was steadied when crowded for room between MEATH and GIFT which shifted in momentarily. Then over the concluding stages, TOP HONOR was steadied and shifted to the outside of CYPRESS HILL. Because of this, TOP HONOR was not fully tested. After the 200 Metres, MEATH had difficulty obtaining clear running between GIFT and LUCKY SIXER. From the outside barrier, throughout the race, CLASSIC DELIGHT raced wide and without cover. KING HESPERUS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, KING HESPERUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, KING HESPERUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIND WINNER and ART TRADER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported WIND WINNER was bleeding from the mouth and LUCKY SIXER had lost its left hind plate.
