Racing Incident Report

UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR began awkwardly, became unbalanced and lost a considerable amount of ground. From an outside gate, SUNRISE LINING (Y T Cheng) was taken across behind runners and after the 1000 Metres shifted in when not properly clear of UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR, causing that horse to be steadied. Y T Cheng was told to exercise greater care. After the 1000 Metres, STAR PRODIGY became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MOONGLOW which at this time was carried in slightly by AWESOME EAGLE which had its head on the side and shifted away from WYNDAM PLENTY. For some distance after this, STAR PRODIGY continued to be awkwardly placed on the heels of MOONGLOW. For the major part of the race, AWESOME EAGLE travelled wide and without cover, making the turn after the 800 Metres hung out and then in the Straight gave ground. Prior to straightening, MAKE YOU JEALOUS was steadied away from the heels of SMARTY. At the 300 Metres, SMARTY became unbalanced when crowded for room between MOONGLOW and WINNING CHAMP which at this time endeavoured to shift out to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, LIBERAL'S RIDE got its head on the side and was inclined to shift out. In the run to the line, DR HAENSLER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of STAR PRODIGY which drifted out slightly. SUNRISE LINING, which was following DR HAENSLER, was steadied away from the heels of that horse. Apprentice K L Chui (FASTER FASTER) explained he rode the horse along in the early stages, whilst it did show some pace, he elected to obtain a position with cover. He said when he did this, near the 1000 Metres FASTER FASTER dropped the bit, however, he was able to shift to the fence and travel where he was comfortable. He said in the middle stages FASTER FASTER continued to travel only fairly. He said when the leaders commenced to give ground on straightening and the manner in which the field was positioned, he had no choice other than to remain towards the inside and then for some distance passing the 300 Metres when held up he had to steady his mount and shift out. He said after obtaining clear running, FASTER FASTER closed the race off nicely. AWESOME EAGLE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, AWESOME EAGLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise, however, no abnormality was detected when an endoscopic examination was performed. WYNDAM PLENTY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WYNDAM PLENTY after the race did not show any significant findings. STAR PRODIGY and LIBERAL'S RIDE were sent for sampling.
