Racing Incident Report
FANTUZZI was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, RIVER ESPERANTO and BEAR DOMINANCE were steadied when crowded for room between MAVERICK STAR and DASH AHEAD, both of which shifted ground. At the 250 Metres, LIBERAL'S CHOICE, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MAVERICK STAR which shifted out into clear running. After the 200 Metres, RIVER ESPERANTO shifted out abruptly, obliging B Prebble, its rider, to stop riding and straighten. DASH AHEAD, which was following, was steadied and shifted to the inside of RIVER ESPERANTO. Throughout the race, GREENESSY travelled wide and without cover, in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. A Delpech (SYLLABUS) reported his saddle shifted back shortly after straightening. SIKANDER and GREENESSY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIKANDER after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, GREENESSY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed it to be an early "roarer". MAVERICK STAR, SYLLABUS and HONEY MONEY were sent for sampling.
