Racing Incident Report

GOOD NATURE was withdrawn on 12.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DR WELL (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, GOOD NATURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, DORDENMA bounded in the air and lost ground. NOBLE CONQUEROR was slow to begin. At the 1300 Metres, NOBLE MAN was steadied away from the heels of GREAT ACHIEVEMENT which was carried in slightly by WHATABOB. After the 1200 Metres, NOBLE CONQUEROR was checked to avoid the heels of NOBLE MAN which shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. At the 600 Metres, FIRM OFFER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of NOBLE CONQUEROR. Near the 500 Metres, FIVE GRAINS was steadied away from the heels of FIRM OFFER. Throughout the race, DR WELL travelled wide and without cover. The performances of DR WELL, DORDENMA and WINNING REWARD were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, DR WELL, DORDENMA and WINNING REWARD will all have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of NOBLE CONQUEROR, B Prebble said at no stage of tonight's race did the horse travel in the manner in which it did when it was successful at its most recent start. He said NOBLE CONQUEROR travelled further back than intended, however, did not show sufficient speed to obtain a more forward position. He said NOBLE CONQUEROR did not appear comfortably racing on tonight's track surface. NOBLE CONQUEROR was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. DR WELL, DORDENMA and WINNING REWARD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, NOBLE CONQUEROR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CONQUEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of DR WELL, DORDENMA and WINNING REWARD after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN and LIBERAL'S CHOICE were sent for sampling.
