Racing Incident Report

LIBERAL’S KNIGHT began awkwardly and bumped with MAVERICK STAR. WHATAFANTASY was slow to begin. Near the 100 Metres, LIBERAL’S KNIGHT, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied when unable to obtain clear running. At the 50 Metres, CANNONISE was steadied away from the heels of ULTRA FANTASY which shifted out when barely clear. When questioned regarding the poor performance of BULB KING, D Whyte said the horse travelled comfortably in the early stages, however, when placed under pressure after the 400 Metres failed to respond to his riding and commenced to give ground. He explained in his opinion this was because the horse did not change leads. He added close to the line he steadied BULB KING as he was awkwardly placed, however, this was of no significance because the horse was well beaten at this time. BULB KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BULB KING after the race did not show any significant findings. DEFERENTIAL, ULTRA FANTASY and JIANG JUN were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SAN LORENZO had bled from both nostrils.
