Racing Incident Report

ZAVONE was slow to begin. Near the 200 Metres, ZAVONE, which was held up and unable to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between SILENT DRAGON and SURE JOY. When ZAVONE shifted out, it caused some inconvenience to SPEED FIGHTER which was carried out and in turn caused crowding on its outside to FLAG FINDER which was steadied. Approaching the 200 Metres, WINNING FELLOWSHIP, which had been held up and unable to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of KIMBERLEY MINES to go forward. D Whyte (SILENT DRAGON) said he was instructed to ride his mount where it was comfortable. He said in the past in both trials and races SILENT DRAGON had shown itself to perform best when held together for as long as possible. He said because of this today despite beginning well he ensured SILENT DRAGON travelled within itself in the early stages. He said when placed under pressure after the 300 Metres SILENT DRAGON failed to respond to his riding and gave ground. B Prebble (PROFITING CHAMPION) said his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, however, after passing the 800 Metres it appeared to change its action. He said after the 600 Metres he was momentarily crowded for room outside FLAG FINDER and became unbalanced. He said after this PROFITING CHAMPION did not stride out as he thought it should and in his opinion was most disappointing. PROFITING CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, PROFITING CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PROFITING CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLAG FINDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLAG FINDER after the race did not show any significant findings. NATIVE KID and WINNING FELLOWSHIP were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported ZAVONE had bled from both nostrils, KINGIFLY had lost its left front plate and ALWAYS WELCOME had lost its right front plate.
