Racing Incident Report
TOP SCORER was withdrawn on 15.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore cannon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ROYAL FALCON (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, TOP SCORER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EASY GAME and ROYAL FALCON were slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, WELL NOTED was steadied when awkwardly placed behind SAVUTE and tight inside HONEST TREASURE which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. For a considerable distance after straightening, EASY GAME had difficulty obtaining clear running inside DASHING THUNDER and behind SUMMERVILLE POWER. At the 300 Metres when giving ground, SAVUTE became unbalanced. For a considerable distance after the 100 Metres, TACTIC KING was steadied when unable to obtain clear running behind HONEST TREASURE. For the major part of the race, PRESENT TREASURE hung out, travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. D Whyte (SUPER WONGCHOY) explained at the 100 Metres the horse was not travelling well. He said in the early part of the Straight he rode his mount along, however, it was not travelling well enough to prevent FUJIAN PRINCE from shifting out on his inside after the 200 Metres. He said when FUJIAN PRINCE did shift out, it made contact with SUPER WONGCHOY and the horse became unbalanced and then appeared restricted in its action. He said because SUPER WONGCHOY was well beaten at this stage, he did not ride his mount out to the end of the race. S Dye (GOLDEN BALL) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said today GOLDEN BALL began well, immediately travelled into the bridle and as a consequence travelled further forward than it did at its most recent start. He said GOLDEN BALL travelled a little keenly in the run and near the 800 Metres came off the bridle for a short distance. He said prior to straightening GOLDEN BALL was travelling satisfactorily, however, in the Straight did not respond to his riding. GOLDEN BALL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN BALL after the race did not show any significant findings. WELL NOTED, PACKING ANGEL and TOP SCORER were sent for sampling.
