Racing Incident Report

MY MEMORY and EASY GOLD bumped at the start. PILLOWIN and HEXAGON were slow to begin. Near the 800 Metres, MY MEMORY was steadied away from the heels of MEGABUCKS (B Prebble) which shifted in when not properly clear. B Prebble was severely reprimanded. Rounding the Home Turn, MEGABUCKS was severely checked when crowded for room between PILLOWIN and HEXAGON (C K Tong) which, after being checked away from the heels of FLY HIGH for some distance, took charge of its rider and shifted out abruptly. The Stewards were satisfied that C K Tong had taken all appropriate measures to prevent HEXAGON from shifting out. When checked, MEGABUCKS shifted out, resulting in PLAN B being checked and AMAZING AWARD being hampered. Trainer C Fownes was advised that prior to being permitted to race again, HEXAGON will be required to perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials. He was also advised that HEXAGON must be ridden by a senior jockey. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that an endoscopic examination of FLY HIGH showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of MEGABUCKS and AMAZING AWARD after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in each of the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MEGABUCKS and AMAZING AWARD will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MEGABUCKS, VINTAGE HUSSLER and LINKED WIN were sent for sampling.
<7/4/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOOD SMILE was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD SMILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
