Racing Incident Report
GREY WHIZZ was withdrawn on 13.5.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality). Before being allowed to race again, GREY WHIZZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, GOOD LUCK WIN did not muster speed and consequently raced back in the field and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Also throughout the race, SURFER BOY travelled wide and without cover. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, CAT STORM was hampered when placed in restricted room inside ABLE CHARM which itself was taken in by RARE TREASURE which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SURFER BOY. Over the concluding stages, ABLE CHARM was steadied away from the heels of RED LUCKY STAR. Because of this, ABLE CHARM was not ridden out to the end of the race. M Du Plessis explained that with the inside barrier, the light weight and with blinkers reapplied today, he had been instructed to lead on THE PRINCE if possible. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that RED LUCKY STAR had lost its left front plate. THE PRINCE, CAT STORM and RED LUCKY STAR were sent for sampling.
<16/5/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that CAT STORM was lame in the right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, CAT STORM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
