Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie fitted to OUTDOOR PEGASUS was replaced.
As the start was effected, REGENCY KING lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently lost ground.
SCARLET CAMELLIA knuckled over at the start.
HOT SHOT and VICTORY MASTER (B Prebble) were crowded for room at the start between WAH MAY STAR and TOUR DE FORCE which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, VICTORY MASTER lost ground. B Prebble stated that it had been intended for VICTORY MASTER to be ridden in a forward position if possible given the pattern of racing. He said however that when the horse lost ground in this incident, he elected to shift VICTORY MASTER across behind runners rather than persevere by pushing forward. He said VICTORY MASTER travelled satisfactorily during the early and middle stages, however came under pressure passing the 500 Metres to maintain its position behind KYARA. He said he shifted the horse out in the Straight and placed it under pressure, however, VICTORY MASTER did not respond to his riding and, in his opinion, raced disappointingly. Mr J Moore, the trainer of VICTORY MASTER, confirmed that it had been intended for VICTORY MASTER to be ridden in a forward position, however, the horse raced disappointingly irrespective today. He added at this time it is his intention to give VICTORY MASTER a freshen-up following its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of VICTORY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Near the 1300 Metres, TOUR DE FORCE shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HOT SHOT.
After the 1300 Metres, KYARA proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.
In the Straight, SCARLET CAMELLIA was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.
When questioned, regarding the disappointing performance of TOUR DE FORCE, M L Yeung stated that, in his opinion, the horse was not on its toes in the Parade Ring as it had been when he had ridden the horse in the past and when it raced well. He said after being instructed to obtain a forward position, he rode his mount along in the early stages but was obliged to make far more use of it than he would have expected. He said when he rode the horse two starts prior into a forward position, it showed good early speed and was able to comfortably obtain a prominent position. He said that was not the case today and TOUR DE FORCE did not travel as comfortably as it had in the past when he had ridden the horse. He said TOUR DE FORCE came under heavy pressure prior to the Home Turn and because of the manner in which the horse was travelling, he was not able to prevent WAH MAY STAR from shifting out to his inside. He said because of this TOUR DE FORCE became unbalanced when bumped by WAH MAY STAR. He added after this TOUR DE FORCE did not respond to his riding as expected and was disappointing. He said after the race he suggested to Mr J Size, the trainer of the horse, that he consider giving it a freshen-up as TOUR DE FORCE, in his opinion, raced like a tired horse. Trainer J Size confirmed to the Stewards that at this time it is his intention to give TOUR DE FORCE a let-up following today’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of TOUR DE FORCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, Y T Cheng sated that he had been instructed to ride MAC ROW in a midfield position as the horse was stepping up in distance to 1600 Metres for the first time. He said in the early stages he attempted to shift across to race behind OUTDOOR PEGASUS, however, FLEET COMMAND was occupying that position and he was not able to shift in as he had hoped. He said when FLEET COMMAND shifted in to race one horse off the rail near the 1400 Metres, he was not able to restrain MAC ROW to be racing behind OUTDOOR PEGASUS as the horse was over-racing at this time and proving very difficult to settle. He said because of this MAC ROW was left racing without cover and when doing so continued to over race and would not settle. He said for this reason he allowed the horse to improve its position, however, MAC ROW continued to race wide and without cover when occupying a more forward position than had been anticipated. Y T Cheng was told that his explanation would be reported, however, he was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made more of an effort to steady MAC ROW to race behind OUTDOOR PEGASUS passing the 1400 Metres than he did on this occasion.
A veterinary inspection of REGENCY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TOUR DE FORCE, HOT SHOT and GENKI TWINS were sent for sampling.

<2/4/2013 Additional Veterinary Report> REGENCY KING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. REGENCY KING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
