Racing Incident Report
JOY AVENUE shifted out at the start and bumped WIN TECH.
BRAVE POWER shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ALLOY STAR.
TELECOM ELITE was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover and when being shifted across behind runners was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN TECH near the 1350 Metres.
From the outside barrier, PAKISTAN ZINDABAD was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, KELMIMI WINS and NOBLE MAN bumped.
After being ridden along in the early stages from a wide barrier, EVEN KEEL was steadied approaching the 1300 Metres to obtain cover when racing wide.
Passing the 1200 Metres, ALLOY STAR got its head on the side and lay in when being shifted across behind SOCCER MASTER.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, JOY AVENUE raced tight outside LITTLE PLAYER which shifted out.
Passing the 500 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOY AVENUE before being shifted to the inside of that horse.
Near the 150 Metres, BRAVE POWER and EVEN KEEL raced tight.
Close to the finishing line, WIN TECH was shifted in away from the heels of ONE STEP AHEAD.
The performance of KELMIMI WINS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. A veterinary inspection of KELMIMI WINS immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Before being allowed to race again, KELMIMI WINS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, H Bentley (FOX CHEUNGER) stated that after the 300 Metres a run developed between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE. He said when this run appeared, he directed FOX CHEUNGER to the outside of LITTLE PLAYER to improve into the run. He said at this stage he was unaware of a run which also existed to the inside of LITTLE PLAYER. He said irrespective of the run which was available to the inside of LITTLE PLAYER, he believed that at the time that he directed his mount to the outside of that horse, there was running available between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE, however, FOX CHEUNGER was not quickening well enough to be able to improve into the run which resulted in FOX CHEUNGER being momentarily inconvenienced at the 200 Metres when the run between those two horses closed as a result of LITTLE PLAYER shifting out marginally. He added whilst FOX CHEUNGER was disappointed for the run, nonetheless he was able to continue to ride his mount along and passing the 100 Metres was able to obtain clear running inside JOY AVENUE. He said in hindsight it would have been best if he had been aware of the run inside LITTLE PLAYER and improved into that run rather than shifting to its outside, nonetheless FOX CHEUNGER was able to be ridden out, however, was not finishing off the race well enough at that stage to be able to capitalize on the run which was available between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE.
After the race, B Shinn stated that after being ridden along from an inside barrier, LITTLE PLAYER was able to obtain a good position in the early stages. He said LITTLE PLAYER travelled fairly throughout the middle stages, however, came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE PLAYER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD and NOBLE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ONE STEP AHEAD, SOCCER MASTER and BRAVE POWER were sent for sampling.
<11/10/2021 Additional Veterinary Reports>KELMIMI WINS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was found to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. KELMIMI WINS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Whyte this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, KELMIMI WINS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
