Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
9 YOUTH POWER (H358) In the early stages raced keenly. Over the concluding stages shifted out away from the winning post and as a result was obliged to be corrected by its rider K Teetan. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start raced tight between SMILING COLLECTOR and PING HAI COMET. Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) Passing the winning post was hampered when BEAUTY VIVA shifted out and away from YOUTH POWER. H Bowman was warned in relation to raising his whip arm above shoulder height on one occasion near the 200 Metres.
10 PING HAI COMET (H344) In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 800 Metres was shifted to the outside of ORIENTAL SMOKE which resulted in PING HAI COMET racing wide and without cover thereafter. In the Home Straight lay in under pressure.
4 JOYFUL PROSPERITY (H213) From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
7 KASA PAPA (G312) Lay in over the final 100 Metres and approaching the winning post A Badel was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount.
8 GLUCK RACER (E157) Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to BEAUTY VIVA.
5 VOLCANIC SPARK (H388) Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to PING HAI COMET. After the event J McDonald stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages. He said near the 600 Metres VOLCANIC SPARK came under pressure and after being unable to secure a tight run between GLUCK RACER and ORIENTAL SMOKE on the Home Turn his mount finished the race off only fairly thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 SMILING COLLECTOR (G128) Lay out when under pressure in the Home Straight. After the event H Bentley stated that he was instructed to hold an on-pace position and was given the option to lead as connections were of the view there was not strong pace engaged in the race. He said after his mount jumped well and when runners to his inside did not show intent to lead he elected to allow SMILING COLLECTOR to stride forward to lead the event without having to apply pressure to his mount to do so.
11 NINJA DERBY (H339) Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Near the 200 Metres was steadied when crowded by ORIENTAL SMOKE (H Bowman) which shifted in when not clear. H Bowman was reprimanded.
1 MATSU VICTOR (H472) Approaching the 1200 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from PING HAI COMET. After the event J Moreira stated that he was issued with no specific instruction other than to attempt to find cover. He said in the early stages he was unable to comply with his instructions which resulted in MATSU VICTOR racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. Trainer K W Lui advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and attributed the disappointing performance to the horse experiencing a wide run during the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MATSU VICTOR was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, MATSU VICTOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
