When questioned the rider stated that the intention was to endeavour to hold an on-pace position, preferably with cover. Rider said after commencing well he was able to settle in a handy position in the early stages but when a runner continued forward to race outside the lead his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event. When questioned regarding his vigour in the Home Straight, particularly between the 300M and the 200M rider stated that when another runner shifted out that resulted in his mount wanting to lay out and away from that horse which then restricted his ability to ride his mount with full vigour at that point as his focus was on keeping his mount balanced. Rider added that his mount continued to respond to his urgings to the finish of the event and, in his opinion, is looking for additional distance in its races. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 037.
