5 G465  FORERUNNER  08/10/2025   79  FORERUNNER (G465) when questioned regarding his riding rider stated that from a wide barrier he had been instructed to endeavour to obtain a midfield position with cover. He said with the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time his mount settled towards the back of the field. When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn and as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the outside of the 7th placegetter sooner than what he did rider stated that the instructions issued by trainer preferred the horse securing an inside run due to the rail being in the “C+3” position. He said with that in mind, when following the 7th placegetter, he was of the opinion that from the 500M that horse would shift out as it was under pressure and being ridden along. He added that when the 7th placegetter did not shift out and the 9th placegetter then moved out from the rail he was unable to secure an inside run into the Home Straight. He said after remaining behind the 7th placegetter he then shifted his mount to the outside on entering the Home Straight where it finished the race off reasonably well. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued and expressed satisfaction with the manner in which rider rode the horse. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised rider that, in their opinion, he should have shifted to the outside of the 7th placegetter sooner than what he did, particularly having regard to the fact that his mount was positioned towards the rear of the field on the Home Turn. He was further advised that in similar circumstances he should ride his mounts so as to leave no room for query - Race 079.
