3 4 HUANGDI (BV154) W C Marwing -- Not jump well, sent on to race on inside, in sixth place, 5Ls off pace and niggled to lie up with leaders 800 M out, responded to pressure in straight, kept responding to pressure but not reach leaders.
4 10 SOMLUCK (BS143) S K Sit -- Held up three from rear 7Ls off early pace, still plenty of work to do turning in, gradually improved on outside down straight, nearest finish.
5 5 DESERT STORM (CA048) D Whyte SR Not jump well, two wide and 5Ls off pace 1000 M out, 6Ls off and hard ridden entering straight, moderate late headway until 100 M out, no extra. (See Racing Incidents.)
6 13 SPLENDID PATROL (BV066) M W Leung V Settled 1.5Ls off pacesetting EXPEDIENT on rails, still at close quarters entering straight, soon under pressure and passed over 200 M out, one-paced to line.
7 2 NORTHERN FLYER (BS032) R Fradd -- Held fifth place racing three wide 5Ls off pace early stages, ridden 800 M out and still under pressure entering straight, beaten 300 M out.
8 11 DIAMOND AND GOLD (BP100) W Woods -- Held rails position near 6Ls off pace early, ridden to keep in touch fully 110 m out, never travelling thereafter, found nothing in straight.
9 6 EASTERN MAGNATE (BS148) F Coetzee B Raced in third, 2Ls off pace and two wide until straight, still going well and every chance 300 M out, found nothing off bridle and beaten 200 M out.
10 1 EXPEDIENT (BT046) E Legrix -- Soon led, got across to rails 800 M out, continued to cut out fast pace until 300 M out, found nothing under pressure, eased down final 200 M.
11 9 NEVER SAY NEVER (BT028) E Saint-Martin SR Raced without cover three wide and 6Ls off early pace, forced five wide and under pressure entering straight, soon left behind.
12 3 HOW FLUKE (CA340) S Dye -- Always in rear at least 9Ls off pace and racing two or three wide, became further detached in straight.
