2 4 CELEBRATION (CB029) E Saint-Martin V Travelled well on fence about 2 or 3Ls off pace in 5th place. Switched out between HORNET and GOLDEN YEARS in straight to be equal lead 200 M out. Stayed on very well to line but winner too strong.
3 8 GOLDEN YEARS (CB010) W C Marwing -- Jumped smartly, settling in forward position outside of pacesetter HORNET. Every chance 200 M out when equal lead with CELEBRATION but no match for winner.
4 2 GOOD NEWS (BS280) M Cahill B Bumped on jumping and raced well back along rails. Made good headway through field in straight to grab 4th.
5 1 LUCKY STALLION (CA249) F Coetzee H-/TT1 On pace early then took up prominent position 2-wide 1.5- 2Ls back. Still 2-wide and 5th upon entering straight. Close behind leaders 200 M out but unable to produce extra.
6 6 STRONGHEART (BT113) Y T Cheng P- Eased to race 2-wide 5Ls back in midfield. Similar position turning for home and ran on steadily to go past beaten runners.
7 5 HORNET (BP238) K H Ting -- Assumed lead 1300 M out on rails. Unable to quicken when challenged 250 M, soon tired.
8 13 NICE AND EASY (CB119) E Legrix -- Always rear of midfield about 7 or 8Ls behind and 2-wide. Made moderate ground in straight but never a threat.
9 10 COURAGE STAR (BT054) D Dunn TT1 Moved up to midfield from a little further back to be about 5Ls back on fence. Hung out from home turn, moved a little closer on straightening, soon one-paced.
10 7 SURPLUS (BT118) D Whyte B Raced in rear from widest gate, shifting across to rails 1200 M out. Made only moderate late headway passing tired runners.
11 12 EVER GLORY (CA199) W Woods -- Well there early then settled 3-wide 2Ls off speed 1000 M out. Entered straight in good position but no further impression and steadily dropped away from 150 M.
12 9 COMME D'HABITUDE (CA107) M W Leung B-/SR2/TT Bumped on jumping and always near rear travelling 2-wide. Rounded home turn at rear and entered straight widest. Made up some ground in straight until final stages.
13 11 HOROSCOPE (CB139) A Marcus -- Ridden at back of forward bunch 3Ls off speed in 6th place and 2-wide. One paced in straight and was not ridden out to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)
14 3 LOMOND'S FAY (BP303) K S Yu -- Handy early, steadily dropped to midfield 6Ls back and 3-wide 1000 M out. Failed to respond when under pressure rounding home bend, dropped out further upon straightening, tailed off inside 200 M.
