2 7 MR PRESIDENT (CA178) W C Marwing B/SR Broke awkwardly and soon settled in midfield towards the outside. From 1000 M gradually improved to race 1-1/2Ls behind leader. Under pressure 300 M out and ran on well but was unable overhaul the winner.
3 2 BRAVISSIMO (BS041) E Legrix SR Midfield briefly and soon settled in worse than midfield section. Switched out in the latter part of home turn and ran home steadily from 300 M out but was never in position to trouble the first pair.
4 3 TELECOM PRINCE (BP223) H K Yim -- Niggled along to raced in mid-division and took rail running after 1200 M mark. Around 700 M commenced to pushed along to maintain position, no extra in straight and kept on evenly to the line.
5 6 NAMJONG HEART (CA212) G Schofield V Broke fairly and raced wide going into the first turn. Steadily moved in to be 2 to 3-wide after 1200 M in mid-division. Under pressure around 400 M but unable to quicken and stayed one-paced to the line.
6 4 DANCING SOUND (CA066) M W Leung TT2 Did not break well. Soon raced in rear section on fence. Steadily improved from 600 M, responded well to pressure in straight but was checked 100 M out and was then unable to obtain running to the line.
7 5 ALLEGRO (CB197) E Saint-Martin B Untidy start and soon settled in midfield out wide without cover throughout. Under pressure to maintain position going up Rock. Found nothing in the straight and kept on same pace to the line.
8 1 MR BEAUTIFUL (CB057) W M Lai -- Tardy start from wide draw and soon dropped to rear section. Shifted out in the latter stage of home turn. Did not respond well to pressure 400 M out and only ran past couple of beaten runners.
9 11 SPEEDY CHAMPION (BT264) C Williams B Jumped fairly and niggled along to take lead on rail around 1250 M with no more than 2Ls advantage through to straight. Unable to quicken and was headed 200 M out. Further weakened in the concluding stages.
10 12 STRAIGHT SCOTCH (CB272) D Dunn TT Outpaced at rear on fence about 8Ls off pace. Shifted wide entering straight, when asked did not respond. (Lame.)
11 10 FORTUNE TYCOON (BS187) F Coetzee B/TT Broke fairly and soon raced no more than 2Ls behind leader. Commenced to lose position 400 M out and soon faded 250 M out.
12 9 MY LOYAL FRIEND (CB321) K S Yu B1 Jumped awkwardly and was then checked. Near the winning post first time became unbalanced. After that became detached and was never a factor. (Lame.)
