2 5 LITTLE ELEPHANT (CB217) R Fradd -- Began well and soon raced in better than midfield 3 wide without cover. Steadily edged forward at home turn and took charge shortly after 400 M. Responded well when asked 350 M out but was overhauled by winner on the line.
3 2 SPARKLING STAR (CD055) S K Sit B1 Broke fairly and raced in midfield 2 wide. Switched to 5 wide on straightening to obtain clear running. Responded well when asked 400 M out but missed the 1st pair by a narrow margin after a tight battle down the straight.
4 4 WEALTHY TREASURE (CC270) C Williams -- Jumped well and soon box seated behind leader through to straight. Unable to find clear running early straight. Ran on fairly inside final 200 M to be closest at finish when clear running was obtained 250 M out.
5 1 NILOMETER (CD052) F Coetzee -- Began fairly and niggled along to race in midfield on rail through to straight. After the 300 M had difficulty obtaining clear running. Obtained running 200 M out and closed the race off fairly to be closest at finish.
6 13 SPRINTER (CA067) M W Leung -- Broke fairly from wide draw and was soon eased to the tail 4 wide without cover. From 1000 M slowly edged forward from the outside to be in midfield on straightening. Made up little ground inside final 200 M when asked 350 M out.
7 3 TOM'S FIRST (CA354) G Mosse SR Slow to begin and settled in rear section 3 wide. Switched out and made little progress at home turn. Under pressure 400 M and made up little ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
8 12 CHINOOK (CC108) W Smith SR Jumped awkwardly and niggled along to race in worse than midfield 2 wide through to straight. Only able to run on evenly to the line when asked 350 M out.
9 11 SUNNY RIVIERA (CC240) S Dye -- Soon settled in worse than midfield on rail. Under pressure to maintain position at home bend. Hung in and ran on one-pace in straight, slightly weakened over the concluding stages.
10 7 INVERNESS (CD108) D Whyte -- Jumped well and soon raced around 1L off pace 2 wide. Nudged forward at home turn to join leader on straightening. Unable to quicken when asked 350 M out further weakened inside final 200 M. (Mucus in trachea.)
11 6 THUNDER STORM (CA226) K T Yeung B Tardy start and pushed along to take lead on rail from 1400 M through to straight. Did not respond when asked 400 M out, near 200 M whilst weakening was checked when crowded for room and steadily dropped out thereafter.
