2 2 DARWIN (CA068) S Dye -- Jumped well and raced behind the early leader. Improved into the lead 1200 M out. Maintained a length's advantage into home straight. Stayed on well but was unable to match strides with winner in the closing stages.
3 9 SURVEYOR (CC159) D Whyte -- 3-wide at midfield in the early stages. Improved to be 2-wide in the back straight and steadily crept to within 2Ls of the leader at 600 M. Continued well in the straight but unable to draw closer to the 1st pair.
4 10 WEALTHY TREASURE (CC270) R Fradd -- Raced 2-wide and kept within 2Ls of the pace. Improved to race alongside the leader rounding home turn. Every chance 200 M but unable to find extra to challenge in the concluding stages.
5 6 MAGIC HANDS (BT287) M Kinane SR Settled on fence and 2 to 3Ls behind the pace until straightening. Ran on steadily in similar position in the home straight.
6 1 HELENE VITALITY (CA030) O Doleuze B Began awkwardly and was hard ridden to keep position on fence near midfield. Remained in same position until straightening. Ran on without threatening.
7 11 SUNSEEN (CB208) C Williams -- Slowly away and trail field until home straight. Made up some late ground.
8 5 EQUATOR KID (CC134) G Mosse -- 2-wide and just behind midfield. Very difficult to settle early stages and was steadied near 1500 M. Improved position after 800 M and closed to within 5Ls of the pace 400 M. Unable to find more in the straight.
9 3 SUPREME RABBIT (CC173) F Coetzee TT Jumped slow and was difficult to settle early. Raced in a rearward position after being checked near 1500 M. Kept on same pace in the straight.
10 8 KIDDY SING (CD005) M W Leung -- Settled 3-wide near the back. Not much response when asked to improve rounding home turn and was one paced to line.
11 7 NORTHERN GOLD BALL (BV008) A Delpech -- Began well and was eased back to race 3-wide in a rearward position. Continued to race wide and without cover behind midfield until straightening. Couldn't find extra thereafter.
12 12 INSOCIABLE (CB435) W Smith -- 2-wide in front of midfield early. Shuffled back after 1400 M and raced on fence in rear section. Dropped further 600 M out and nearly trail field on straightening. Found nothing in the straight.
