2 1 DIAMOND MOON (CB019) A Marcus -- Niggled along to race midfield on rail through to straight. Responded well when asked 350 M out but failed to fend off late challenge from winner to be overhauled on the line.
3 7 ORIENTAL (CC202) G Mosse -- On jumping was crowded for room and raced in the rear section 2 wide. Switched out on straightening and made up good ground when asked 350 M out. Near the 200 M steadied to avoid heels, just failed to catch the first pair.
4 5 BOUNTIFUL (CB114) S Dye -- Began well from widest and steadily eased to the rear section wide without cover. Made slight headway at home turn. Ran on well when asked 300 M out, but hung out and proved difficult to ride to miss the placegetters narrowly.
5 10 NOBLE ZOOM (CC298) M Zahra B/TT On jumping bounded in the air and soon recovered to race 1-1/2 to 2Ls off pace on rail through to straight. Took lead around the 300 M but was headed after the 200 M and failed to match speed with placegetters thereafter.
6 6 WINNING SMILE (CC177) R Fradd -- On jumping was checked and raced in a rearward position around 3 wide. Switched wide on straightening to obtain clear running. Under pressure 400 M out and made up some ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
7 2 LUCKY SUPERSTAR (CA270) H K Yim -- Unable to muster early speed to race in rear section on rail. Made up little ground rounding home bend. Unable to find an extra gear in straight and kept on evenly to the line.
8 8 TATTLETALE (CC328) F Coetzee -- Soon raced in midfield or worse 2 wide through to straight. Switched to the middle in home straight to find running asked 400 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
9 9 GOLD DIGGER (CD101) W Smith TT Raced in a forward position out wide in the early stages. After the 1400 M eased back to midfield 3 wide to home straight. Did not see clear daylight in straight and only ran on evenly to the line.
10 11 FUN CRUISER (CD167) P H Lo B1 Jumped awkwardly and niggled along to dispute lead on rail. Took outright lead shortly after the 1200 M. Headed on straightening and failed to respond to pressure. Further weakened inside final 200 M.
11 12 KING OF SPADES (CC056) W M Lai -- Unable to muster early speed to race in a rearward position around 3 wide. Near the 1000 M dropped to the tail and switched to the widest in straight. Made up little ground inside final 200 M.
12 4 BEING FAMOUS (CD018) C Williams TT Began well from wide gate and pushed along to race in better than midfield 3 wide through to straight. Kept on evenly when asked 400 M out and further weakened inside final 150 M.
13 3 TELECOM TYCOON (CC039) O Doleuze V Jumped awkwardly and ridden along to dispute lead in a 2 wide position. Near the 1200 M eased to race in 2nd place. Took lead on straightening but effort was short lived and steadily faded inside final 200 M. (Mucus.)
14 13 C'EST LA VIE (CB085) K S Yu B Broke well and niggled along to race in a forward position 2 to 3 wide through to straight. No extra in straight and dropped out inside final 250 M.
