3 8 DON FELIPE (CD273) E Saint-Martin B Began awkwardly and soon settled in midfield or worse 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 350 M out and responded quite well but was never in position to trouble the 1st pair to settle for 3rd.
4 14 STAR OF NORTHERN (CD173) H W Lai B-/V1/TT Jumped well from wide draw and settled in midfield or worse around 3 wide with cover. Made little headway from a 4 wide position rounding the home turn. Under pressure 350 M out and plugged on gamely to the line.
5 3 BULLISH GENERAL (CD034) F Coetzee TT Broke with field from wide draw and pushed along to race in a prominent position 2 wide to straight. All out 300 M out and kept on fairly to the line without threatening.
6 11 MAIN ATTRACTION (CB218) Y T Cheng B Unable to muster early speed to race in a rearward position. Near the 800 M was checked to avoid heels. Was unable to see clear daylight in early to middle part of straight. Made up little ground inside final 200 M.
7 12 NATURAL MODEL (CD191) A Delpech SR Began fairly and niggled along to race in better than midfield around 2 wide through to straight. Near the 200 M whilst plugging on fairly was steadied when closed to heels, continued to plug on fairly to the line thereafter.
8 4 AMBITION (CC079) O Doleuze -- Slowly away and raced at the back. Steadily switched to the outside rounding the home turn to obtain clear running. Made up little ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish when asked 350 M out.
9 5 ASIA RISING (BT270) C Soumillon -- Broke with field and soon settled in a rearward position 3 wide with cover. Near the 800 M was steadied to avoid heels and became unbalanced on straightening after being bumped. Kept on fairly to the line when asked 350 M out.
10 7 ABORIGINAL (CC284) C K Tong V Jumped well and hard ridden along in the early stages to take lead on rail. Pulled clear from the rest rounding the home turn. Kept on same pace in straight, headed near the 300 M and steadily faded thereafter.
11 2 AFRICAN FOREST (CD174) B Prebble B-/TT1 Broke fairly and soon settled in better than midfield on rail. Near the 700 M was awkwardly placed on heels whilst hanging out. Unable to quicken when asked 350 M out and only kept on evenly to the line.
12 13 CENAMIRA (CD129) K S Yu -- Broke with field and soon settled in a rearward position on rail. Near the 800 M lost ground when awkwardly placed on heels. Unable to show much impression in the straight.
13 6 ATHLETIC GOLD (CC241) S Sanders B/TT Began well and steadily settled in midfield around 2 wide. Near the 800 M was steadied when awkwardly placed and dropped to a rearward position. Failed to show any running in straight.
14 10 LUCKY PACKET (CD068) R Fradd B-/V1 From the widest draw was immediately eased to a rearward position out wide without cover. Made little headway rounding the home bend to be in mid-division on straigh- tening. No extra in straight and steadily dropped out.
