2 7 WEALTHY (CD164) E Saint-Martin SR Jumped with them from awkward gate, restrained to 5th last 2 wide 8Ls from lead, tracked eventual winner 3 wide on turn, left a little flat-footed when they sprinted but rallied strongly over final 200 M.
3 2 BEST GIFT (CD296) M Rodd TT Jumped well, taken hold of and obtained cover 4 back on fence 4Ls from lead, eased 2 wide passing 600 M, failed to get clear running and bumped badly in straight, motored home late.
4 10 FIVE GRAINS (CB280) B Prebble -- Awkward to begin, restrained to 3rd last 10Ls from lead 2 wide, eased 3 wide turn and ran on widest in straight, chased gamely.
5 14 THE KING (CD384) H W Lai TT Jumped with them, ridden hard from wide gate to lead, used a lot of petrol to cross, ran along at solid gallop, held ground until 200 M but weakened after hard run. Saddle shifted. (See Racing Incidents.)
6 3 SUMMERLAND (CD074) G Schofield TT Fairly away, pushed forward to hold prominent position 2 wide, 1 back 3Ls from lead, travelled well to turn, eased out in straight, battled steadily without threatening winner.
7 4 AGILITY (CC361) G Mosse -- Broke with them from bad alley, caught 3 wide with cover midfield, ridden up 4 wide on turn, couldn't go with them when they sprinted.
8 11 FRUITY FRUITY (CD061) Y T Cheng -- Average to begin, restrained to 2nd last on rails 10Ls from Lead, urged along on turn, failed to show any dash, passed only tiring horses in straight.
9 5 PALETTE NATURAL (CB284) R Fradd -- Fair to begin, eased in to settle on fence 8Ls from lead, travelled on bridle to turn, steadied near 350 M, held ground in straight but tired late.
10 13 NILOMETER (CD052) F Coetzee CP/TT Jumped well, urged forward to take up position outside leaders (pace genuine) moved up to be on terms on turn, failed to maintain effort and weakened out of it.
11 8 BEETHOVEN (CC133) S Dye B/TT Jumped best from wide alley, pressed on when caught wide to sit 3 wide without cover 2Ls off lead, moved forward on turn to tackle leaders but run ended 200 M from home.
12 1 FIGURES (CC307) D Whyte -- Jumped with them, raced keenly to be behind the leader, never fully settled, obtained run in straight but failed to make any impression.
