3 10 HAPPEE OWNER (CE230) F Coetzee CP/TT Jumped well, rolled forward to race at leader's girth 2 wide, travelled well through middle stages at slow pace, challenged leader entering straight and tried hard over final 200 M to hold 3rd.
4 5 DAVE'S BEST (CC060) Y T Cheng -- Fairly away, restrained to take trail, raced in 5th position 2 wide 4Ls from front-runners , had good trip, made run between runners in straight and held ground without threatening. (See Racing Incidents.)
5 6 FIVE GRAINS (CB280) B Prebble -- Average to begin, travelled 3 back on fence 4Ls from speed, had soft run thereafter, followed paint into straight and got clear passing 200 M but couldn't make impression on placegetters.
6 2 GOOD PROFIT (CD389) R Fradd TT Slow to begin, settled in rearward position, 3 wide 6Ls from leaders, had cover thereafter made 4 wide run on turn and stuck to task well making up some late ground.
7 1 STAY YOUNG (CD109) E Saint-Martin B Jumped in air and lost ground at start, settled 2nd last 2 wide 6Ls off speed, did little in run, travelled well to turn, responded only fairly when placed under pressure in straight.
8 8 LIBERAL'S CHOICE (CC345) C Brown -- Clearly fastest into stride, rolled on with it to take up front, slowed speed in mid section after good early speed, had good run to turn, tackled passing 350 M and failed to respond.
9 4 RED POWER (CD077) S Dye CP/TT Broke well, trapped 3 wide with cover 4Ls from lead throughout, ridden along on turn but raced very 1 paced in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)
10 7 PALETTE NATURAL (CB284) A Delpech -- Broke with them, restrained to last position on rails 6Ls from pace, had soft run throughout, travelled well to turn, lacked turn of foot when required in straight.
