4 NOBLE MAN (CC099) F Coetzee -- Began with rest, lacked speed and drifted back, in rearward division 5-6Ls away on rails, hampered at mid-point by retiring horse, made solid ground on rails into straight, found gap at 150 M and accelerated nicely to score.
3 SANZIRO (CE208) G Mosse TT Out with them, restrained to settle in midfield, raced 2-wide 3-4Ls away, a little unbalanced at 800 M but otherwise trouble free to turn, gained dream split into straight to hit lead, defied all until last 50 M.
8 WIN AGAIN (CD371) E Saint-Martin B Broke in line, showed enough dash to be 1-2Ls away with cover early, raced 2-wide just off leader from mid-point, drew up level on turn to make challenge, hit lead briefly but couldn't come with first two last bit.
2 EXPECTATIONS (CD078) O Doleuze SR First to leave gates, faded back shortly after from wide alley, raced 3-wide in midfield with cover, in traffic 2-3Ls down at Rock, swung 5-wide on turn, made good ground down outside to make frame.
1 TCHAIKOVSKY (CE030) B Prebble BO Began well, ridden along to challenge for lead, kept applying pressure and eventually took up running at mid-point. Kept working when pressured to turn, held 1/2L into straight but couldn't go on from 200 M after hard run.
9 ENGINEERING WONDER (CB300) H W Lai -- Slowly into stride, settled down near last, raced 2-wide 6-7Ls away, niggled along and slowly improved in mid-section, tracked nicely 3Ls away on turning, in traffic to 200 M and closed steadily when clear.
10 FLYING SPRINTER (CD021) H K Yim B Bounced out, headed them early, took trail after 400 M when continually pressured, always niggled behind leader, travelled fairly on turn, couldn't find extra gear and was one-paced in straight.
7 CHEERFUL MASTER (CE309) M Odendaal B/TT Slow to begin, settled at tail 7Ls from front runners, always struggling to make ground, still well back to turn, hard ridden and responded in straight to pass some weakening runners late.
12 GENERAL KINGY (CB039) S K Sit B Broke with field, outpaced a little early and had to settle 2Ls away 3-wide, continued to race 3-wide without cover gradually creeping closer, hard ridden and didn't respond in straight.
11 CONESTOGA (CE313) M Nunes -- Began evenly, ridden up to take closer order, raced 5-wide without cover 1L away, always working in mid-section, still 4-wide and struggling on turn, weakened right out in straight after tough run.
6 BLUE GENES (CG055) C K Tong CP-/B1/TT Jumped in line, hard ridden to be forward early, raced 4-wide outside leaders 1L away, began to struggle at mid-point, swung wide in straight but unable to muster anything in run home. (Lame.)
PU 5 YELLOW DIAMOND (CD246) D Whyte V Broke well, looked uneasy after 300 M, clearly not travelling and began to fade out of it, restrained to be pulled up from 600 M. (No significant findings but jockey reported reluctance to stride out.)
