7 CRUSADER OF GOLD (CE188) F Coetzee B Restrained from a wide gate, dropped to rear, raced 7 to 8Ls back on rails, appreciated reasonable speed at top end, travelled on bend, gained a dream passage at 300 M when in traffic, cruised to lead at 100 M to score well.
10 SOUTH BREEZE (CG241) G Mosse -- Standard jump, ended up 6Ls back in running line, a little keen early but suited by tempo, lost spot on bend, well back and switched out on straightening, finished race off well but found winner too handy late.
6 SIR GALAHAD (CG272) S Dye -- Restrained at start, ended up at tail 9Ls or more from top end helped by tempo, made a 3 wide run on circle with a tail, made plenty of ground down centre closing nicely for 3rd.
4 LU YUE (CH278) B Prebble B1/H Began fairly, took a midfield spot 4 to 5Ls away after racing a little wide early, travelled well thereafter, eased 3 wide on bend, made progress to be right in mix at 200 M but couldn't go with them late.
1 SOCRATES (CD336) G Boss TT Prominent early but elected for a trail 1 out 1 back, raced 2 to 3Ls away tracking reasonable tempo, same margin down on turning, stayed on soundly in straight just unable to go up a notch last 200 M.
12 EYE WITNESS (CG027) K L Chui XB/TT No real early pace, raced 7 to 8Ls back in running line, helped by even speed, took a 3 wide trail on circle, held up at 300 M, closed off soundly when clear to be nearest on line.
9 MEDICO (CH075) D Beadman -- Slowly into stride, ended up in midfield on rails, had an ideal trip with some pace on at top end, into clear on turning but run ended at 200 M and just held ground thereafter.
5 MAN IN THE MIRROR (CH058) D Whyte -- No pace from outset, settled 3 wide 7 to 8Ls back at tail, posted wide without cover in middle stages, moved forward on bend, kept on well without really threatening.
3 FANTASTIC DANCER (CJ001) M Nunes -- Began nicely and took front easily, set a reasonable tempo 1L clear in front, held a narrow advantage on turning in, lacked a turn of foot last 300 M and dropped out late.
11 FASHFIELD (CH307) C K Tong -- Away fairly, pushed on and assumed a spot behind leader, carted along at an even tempo, niggled along leaving bend, didn't find much at business end just holding ground late.
8 YANKEE (CH271) C Soumillon -- Standard jump, wide early on and pressed forward to race outside the leader, did share of work with genuine pace, challenged on turning, didn't quicken again passing 300 M and weakened out. (Blood in trachea.)
2 NORTHERNER (CD293) M W Leung XB No real early pace, settled in midfield 5Ls back on fence, saved ground on bend, lacked usual finish and just battled away in straight.
