12 GRAND GENERAL (CJ113) G Cheyne CP 3-back on fence in midfield some 4Ls from leader through to straightening, responded well to lead about 50 M out, kept on.
6 MASTER DREAMER (CE293) D Whyte B Midfield and 2-wide just behind winner GRAND GENERAL throughout, kept on pretty well in the straight to just hold 2nd.
5 DASHING THUNDER (CD080) W M Lai B No early pace, unable to take a more prominent position than 10th, 7Ls adrift turning for home, rattled home strongly for an unlikely placing.
9 JOLLY WONGCHOY (CH076) Z Purton TT Led as usual, 1L clear on fence at the 1200 M, tried to pinch the race by kicking 2Ls clear 300 M out, reeled in 50 M out and just missed a place.
8 BATURO (CH029) M L Yeung -- Pressed forward, flanked pacesetter in 2nd about 1L off pace from 1200 M to final turn, had every chance to place, didn't miss out by much.
11 WONG'S FAVOURITE (CG131) Y T Cheng B/TT Always nicely place in 4th or 5th with cover and well within striking range, over 2Ls back in 3rd at the furlong marker, couldn't follow through.
2 DASH AHEAD (CD199) T H So SR Went back as usual, always niggled along a little, 9Ls last 700 M, recovered some decent late ground in the straight, never nearer.
3 EVER KING (CE147) K C Leung V/TT 4-back the rails in 8th or 9th about 5Ls from the lead at the 1000 M, seemed held when squeezed for room 200 M out, never really landed a blow.
1 GALLANT MASTER (CJ255) M Chadwick B Pressed forward from wide gate but posted 3-wide no cover throughout, in 3rd or so but wide until last bend, extra work soon exacted its toll. (Tactic questioned.)
4 FANTASTIC DANCER (CJ001) O Doleuze V/TT Always worse than midfield, at least 5Ls from the pace before last bend, never loomed with any sort of threat.
7 LUCKY MONEY (CE159) M W Leung -- Mustered enough pace to box-seat from the inside draw, trailed the leader back but struggling to keep up turning for home, wilted.
10 SAMBUOYANT (CE172) J Winks B One from rear about 8Ls from the pace at the 1000 M, same position and left flat-footed as field straightened for home, soon beaten.
