Racing Incident Report
HAIL WINNER jumped awkwardly. RAINBOW SEEKER was slowly away. ABSOLUTE jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SUPERIOR TITLE. LUCKY CHARM was slowly away. Just after the start, PRODIGY was steadied when crowded for room between RAINBOW SEEKER and WINNING TOUCH. Approaching the 1400 Metres, WINNING TOUCH got its head up when awkward on the heels of SUPERIOR TITLE. For some distance in the middle stages, LUCKY CHARM was awkward on the heels of EQUINE SUPREMO About the 700 Metres, WINNING SUPREME was checked to avoid the heels of ABSOLUTE which was giving ground quickly. FAT CHOY TOGETHER, which was following, was hampered in consequence. The performance of ABSOLUTE was considered to be unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Further it will be subject to an official veterinary examination. Near the 400 Metres, DRAGON FORTUNE, which had been obliged to race wide throughout, momentarily shifted in behind EQUINE SUPREMO when struck with the whip. When questioned, J Egan (HAPPY ECLIPSE) explained he had ridden the horse in some work during the week and proved very difficult for him to hold. He said today he had been asked by the Trainer if possible to settle the horse and ride it back from the front. He said however HAPPY ECLIPSE left the gates well, immediately started to pull and in the circumstances he felt he had little alternative but to let HAPPY ECLIPSE run along into a forward position. He did say however if the horse can be educated to settle, it may race more competitively. DRAGON FORTUNE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
