Racing Incident Report

PUCCINI was slowly away. BRILLIANT missed the start, then over-raced, hung out and made the turn near the 800 Metres very awkwardly. In all the circumstances, the performance of BRILLIANT was considered to be unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. About the 1000 Metres, PROFIT ALL TIMES became unbalanced when momentarily crowded between ACCURACY and A RUN OF LUCK. Near the 800 Metres, ACCURACY and PROFIT ALL TIMES bumped. D O'Neill (COSMO ONE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that near the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of DANZIGREEN. As a consequence of this, DANZIGREEN lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked rather severely to avoid the heels of COSMO ONE. After considering all the submissions in respect to this matter, the Stewards decided the appropriate penalty was that D O'Neill be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 14 December 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 29 November 2000. Running to the 800 Metres, FLEETING TIME, which was proving very difficult to settle and racing with its head up, lost its position from between DANZIGREEN and NO COMPETITOR. When being steadied, FLEETING TIME shifted in, as a consequence of this, WOODSIDE PARK, which was following, was checked. Because of the circumstances involved in this incident, no action was taken. Near the 700 Metres, PROFIT ALL TIMES was awkwardly placed just inside the hindquarters of FLEETING TIME. Because of this, PROFIT ALL TIMES shifted ground and again made contact with ACCURACY. About the 200 Metres, ACCURACY was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between NO COMPETITOR and FLEETING TIME. Then after this, ACCURACY had trouble obtaining clear running. In the run to the winning post, A RUN OF LUCK shifted out. When questioned, M de Montfort (FISH KING) said he had been instructed by the Trainer to ride the horse somewhere just behind the lead if possible. He said however FISH KING left the gates cleanly and in the early stages he was not able to find a leader, he had no alternative but to allow the horse to run in front. He did say he was able to lead with the horse and rate it well. FISH KING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
