Racing Incident Report
SCHUBERT was slowly away. About the 1000 Metres, BULL'S EYE got its head up when awkward on the heels of COLOURFUL ERA. Near the 800 Metres, COLOURFUL ERA was steadied when momentarily crowded by PLENTY-PLENTY which raced across to be beside EXPEDIENT. Throughout the race, WHYTELLYOU hung in and in the run to the line hung in badly and proved difficult to ride right out. When questioned, R Fradd (CRYSTAL CHARM) said today over the 1200 Metres he was reluctant to force the horse along in the early stages as he thought it might have a tendency to over-race. He said CRYSTAL CHARM left the gates well, he then did little more than drop across its neck and running to the first turn he was caught outside DANZIGHILL and rather than cover extra ground, he elected to steady, go back to the inside of that horse and closer to the rail. He said in the middle stages CRYSTAL CHARM travelled well, in the early part of the Straight he changed course inside SOLID CONTACT and with the whip in his left hand in the backhand fashion, he hit CRYSTAL CHARM on two occasions. He said he is not as strong with the whip in his left hand as in his right, but pointed out CRYSTAL CHARM in his opinion does not respond to hard whip riding. R Fradd did say he pointed out to the Assistant Trainer following the race that maybe CRYSTAL CHARM is now looking for more ground. PRIME WITNESS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
